I am the worst.

So sorry for the radio silence!

It is truly incredible how many freakin’ distractions exist in my day to day. The last few months have been all go, go, go. Hardly any time to myself.

That being said, here are a few pictures from adventures over the last few months, followed by some poems because I have been writing, but failing at posting.

Thanks for humoring me! Back at you ASAP woth another update!

Inner Self

The horizon of my inner self often baracades the outside world from permiating my physical form. My face remains still; composed, like stone.

Human

Cheers to remembering that I am only human and that this world spans far beyond the horizon of my inner self.

Toes

The day that we met, you spoke to me in sonnets; I quickly became acustomed to your sweet words and hollow sounds.

“Grateful,” is my way of paraphrasing, “Thank you for this second chance at love. I’d given up on it before because the entire concept was beyond overwhelming for me, but you’ve lessened that burden just by existing.”

Every time your toes curl, I am rejuvenated; it makes me whole; it fills this void, brought on by many years of, “good enough;” it reminds me that I am a human, with emotions and car payments – it reminds me that I exist and that you exist and that we’re good together and that the world has approved that notion, in her own, subtle way.

Sometimes I just need to be reminded that I can, in fact, feel a warm Summer’s rain on my skin and the coldest of winter breezes on my face. My cheeks turn so red when that happens; this must be what it means to “live.”

Vacation things & donut day!

I am so sorry for slacking on posts. I just haven’t had the energy or attention span lately!

Okay, as promised, here’s my vacation and packing update!

So, my friends and I went to Maine for the long weekend and this is what I brought along:

To be honest, I think I packed more for this trip than I needed. I have yet to master minimal packing for beach trips! Here’s an itemized list of what I brought with me for 5 days on the Maine coast (including notes on what I didn’t end up wearing/using!)

1 pair of flats (dancing was planned, but we didn’t get to it! Wound up not needing them)
1 pair of sneakers (didn’t wear these once, despite that we walked all over the place!)
1 pair of boat shoes
1 pair of flip flops
1 LBD
Distressed jeans
Regular jeans
Rain coat
Sweatshirt
4 casual shirts (only wore two of them!)
2 tanks (1 dressy, 1 casual)
Bathing suit
Necessary under garments
Beach cover-up
Beach bag
Swimsuit bag
Small over-the-shoulder bag
7 pairs of socks (only used 4)
Sunscreen, shampoo and other toiletries
Some books for the beach
Phone charger

Here are a few pictures from the trip!

It was a lot of fun, but I definitely could have packed less. Lesson learned. I also bought more clothing while I was up there because I made the mistake of not keeping many fall items the last time I cleaned out my closet. Rookie mistake.

In other news, TODAY WAS DONUT DAY. It’s been a while since I’ve treated myself to that! But the fall flavors are out now and I couldn’t help myself!

I’ve been going to zumba 3 or 4 times a week for the last month or so and I am LOVING IT. I have already lost 5 lbs! This Apple Cider donut probably didn’t help with my weight loss goals, but it was worth it!

What else has been going on… I am EAGER to make the jump in careers from Finance to Human Services. Only a matter of time now. Please cross your fingers for me.

I’ve done a lot of growing, mentally, this last month. It has been 3 months now, since that breakup I went through and I am now just starting to realize that’s I’ll truly be OKAY. It’s a refreshing feeling and it get’s me really excited for the future.

That’s all for now!

THANK GOD IT’S WEDNESDAY

Hey. What’s up? Hello. I keep taking unintentional hiatuses. Sorry. These last few weeks have been slightly insane. I can’t complain, but I am going to say that I need way more sleep than I have been getting.

Where do I even begin? How many days has it been? Oh, right! I went to the Cape for an overnight last week! It was fun, but very humid! It was great to see my family and get some beach time in! I packed super light, because I was there for less than 24 hours, but I promised you an itemized list, so here it is!

  • 1 maxi dress for our annual family dinner (which doubled as a beach cover up for the following day)
  • 1 pair of shorts + a tank top to sleep in
  • 1 pair of “fancy” sandals to wear to the family dinner (which doubled as beach shoes for the following day)
  • 1 pair of jeans + 1 tank top + boat shoes which I wore during my travel time down and drive back (outfit pictured above)
  • 1 (very) small over the shoulder bag to accessorize my dinner outfit & hold my money, card & phone
  • Necessary undergarments (duh) x3
  • 1 Hoodie because this is New England and you just never friggen know
  • Beach towel
  • Baseball hat
  • Bathing suit
  • Phone charger
  • A book to read at the beach
  • minimal make-up & personal hygiene/hair care items (cover-up, sunscreen, mascara, foundation, toothbrush and travel-sized toothpaste, face wash and 2-in-1 shampoo, hair straightener, comb and deodorant

The Cape is ALWAYS beautiful and I wish I could have spent more time down there, but I am glad I got to go. Here’s some pictures!

What else? OH YEAH! I went to the Alkaline Trio show in Boston on Saturday. I have been DYING to see them play! They have remained one of my favorite bands for many years. Here’s a video!

In other news, I’ve also been going to zumba four times a week and I LOVE IT! Finally finding a way to work out that I can get excited about makes me very excited about my fitness goals! I used to dread the gym, but going to the zumba studio instead has really changed that for me! I get to shake my butt to get back in shape; I am living the dream! haha!

I think that is all for now. I have my last “big” vacation coming up on Thursday of next week! That day can’t arrive soon enough! Very much looking forward to spending 5 days on the beach in Maine! I’ll do a “what I packed” update and all of that for that trip as well! Until then, enjoy the rest of your week/weekend!

#Goals

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday!

A quick update: I’ve put my notice in for my overnight shifts. My last one will be August 25th. I took on too much and I am realizing that. I am upset with myself, but also need to be realistic. I can’t work 7 days a week. It’s just not something I can swing anymore. This is for my own sanity.

That being said, and since I am truly doing my best to work on myself and accomplishing my own personal goals, I’ve been thinking a lot about traveling; 2019 and 2020 are going to be full of adventures with friends & solo excursions, that is the goal. As a gift to myself, I am attempting to pay off my credit card and a solid chunk of my remaining car payments as well, before Christmas/New Years this year. Money may be tight up until then, but getting that debt off of my shoulders will absolutely help in the long run and it will give me the opportunity to really save for these vacations.

On the bucket list for 2019:

  • Northern California to visit friends at/near Yosemite
  • Southern California to visit family
  • Jamaica, with friends
  • New Orleans with friends
  • CAMPING ANYWHERE.

On the bucket list for 2020:

  • Ireland with friends, to celebrate our 30th birthdays!
  • Germany and/or Holland to visit friends
  • CAMPING. I love it and I just don’t do it enough

We’ll have to see how this all plays out, but these goals are absolutely do-able and I intend to pursue them while I can. Let the adventure(s) begin!
